One of the UK's rarest moths has reappeared in its Highland home more than 160 years after it was first discovered.

The micro moth Ethmia pyrausta has only been seen a handful of times since the early 19th century.

But wildlife enthusiasts have spotted it on the Croick Estate in Easter Ross 15 times in five weeks.

The moth was first found in Northern Scotland in 1853 and not seen again for around 150 years. Nigel Richards, from Butterfly Conservation Highlands and Islands branch, spotted it while looking for emperor moths.
