SOME 3,000 athletes and fundraisers have taken part in the Men's 10k Festival in Glasgow, which saw the previous record race time smashed.

The event in Bellahouston Park saw Mengisteab Tewolde, representing the local Shettleston Harriers running group, cross the finish line in a record 30 minutes and seven seconds. The previous record stood at 30 minutes and 28 seconds.

Mr Tewolde said: "It was a really good race for me. The crowd were good and it was a good atmosphere. I'm very proud that I broke the record. That was my goal when I took on this run."
