A GRANDFATHER has been forced to remove wind chimes from his home after being investigated by council noise nuisance officers.
Council tenant Robert Russell, 55, was stunned when an official arrived at his door and said they had received a complaint.
Mr Russell, who suffers from ill health, had placed the £2.99 wind chimes on the verandah of his flat in Mossend, North Lanarkshire, and insists they were popular with neighbours.
He said he felt pressured to remove them after the visit from North Lanarkshire Council but has vowed to put them back even if it means being taken to court or being evicted.
He claims the local authority targeted him over a small matter while failing to tackle more serious issues such as vandalism, drinking and drug taking in the area.
He said: "I have been a council tenant for 34 years and this is the first time I have been reported for anything. To get reported for wind chimes is beyond me. What a waste of money, time and resources.
"When the housing officer told me there had been a complaint I thought it was a joke."
