TOURISM chiefs are trying to entice Spaniards to Scotland with the help of a specially adapted version of the movie Sunshine On Leith.

The film, which features The Proclaimers, has been dubbed into Spanish and retitled Amanece en Edinburgo (Sunrise in Edinburgh).

VisitScotland hopes the views of the capital in the musical will inspire more Spaniards to head north on holiday.

Charlie Reid, of The Proclaimers, said of the film's release in Spain: "We are aware of the large number of Spanish people who visit Scotland, particularly Edinburgh. So we are very happy the film shows Edinburgh in such a good light and trust that it will do some good for future Spanish-Scottish relations."

Julio Fernández, president of Filmax, which will distribute the movie in Spain, said he was convinced the Spanish public will enjoy it.

He said: "It is a film that makes everyone smile and we are convinced the public will enjoy it. The songs of The Proclaimers are fantastic and Edinburgh is a beautiful city, as we can see in the film. That mix is sensational."
