ONE in 12 of London's homeless are from Scotland, a leading charity has revealed.
Around 500 Scots are thought to be sleeping rough in the UK capital, according to the latest figures released by charity Borderline. It comes as the figures for those sleeping rough in the city from other parts of the UK and Ireland has dropped.
The London-based Borderline helps homeless Scots in the city secure shelter, jobs and a move back to Scotland if they wish. The latest figures show that almost 90 per cent of the Scots were male, with Glasgow the most common home town.
Earlier this year it was revealed that in 2012/13 there were 6,437 people sleeping rough in London.
Shona Flemming, head of operations at Borderline, said: "It's concerning that the numbers have gone up while it has gone down for other countries."
