FORMER pop star Gary Glitter has appeared in court to face allegations he carried out a string of sex attacks on two girls.
The 70-year-old, who appeared under his real name Paul Gadd, is charged with eight sex offences against two girls aged under 16 in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
He is accused of administering a drug - "namely alcohol" - to one of the girls so he could have sex with her.
Glitter, wearing tinted glasses due to a "medical condition" and listening through a hearing loop in the dock, spoke only to confirm his name, age and address during the hearing at Westminster Magistrates' Court. He spelled out his surname.
The case was adjourned until a hearing at Southwark Crown Court on July 3 and Glitter was allowed bail.
