AN anaesthetist has been banned from practising for nine months after being caught drink driving for the second time.

Dr Andrew Woods was suspended from the medical register following a hearing of the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service in Manchester, which found his fitness to practise was impaired due to his conviction.

His was fined £400 and banned from driving for three years after pleading guilty to drink driving at Lanark Sheriff Court last September - just months after previous conditions on his practise, imposed due to a drink driving conviction and turning up to work under the influence, were removed

The fitness to practise panel, chaired by Mr Jetinder Shergill, said: "This was your second conviction for driving with excess alcohol."
