A GROUP of children has laid a wreath to commemorate the Battle of Bannockburn in one of the first events held to mark its 700th anniversary.

The 10 children, representing Stirling, the Highlands and Islands, Turnberry, Yorkshire and Wales, have a shared heritage of those from across the UK who formed the armies in the two-day battle. They were led by a drummer as they walked from the new visitor centre. Picture: Gordon Terris
