May 11, 2004:

Nine killed and 40 injured in explosion at the Stockline Plastics building in Glasgow. A public inquiry, which took the place of an FAI, began four years later, nearly a year after two operators of the factory, ICL Plastics and ICL Tech, were fined a total of £400,000 over health and safety breaches.

December 2007: Skipper Stephen Humphreys, 33, Eric Blackley, 57, and Robert Cameron, 65, die when a tugboat capsizes in the Clyde. Still awaiting a decision on whether there will be an FAI.

July 2009: Ewan Williamson, 35, dies while fighting a fire in the Balmoral Bar in Edinburgh. Still awaiting an FAI decision.

March 2010: Remains of toddler Declan Hainey found at his Paisley home. FAI opened in May, a year after his mother Kimberley Hainey was jailed for his murder. The conviction was quashed due to problems with expert evidence.

July 2012: Squadron Leader Samuel Bailey, 36, Flight Lieutenant Hywel Poole, 28 and Flt Lt Adam Sanders, 27, die in collision between Tornado fighter jets over Moray Firth. Still awaiting an FAI decision.

February 2013: Joy Robson, 50, dies at the Snowman Rally in Inverness. Still awaiting an FAI decision.
