THE Govan Ferry is set to return to the Clyde this summer, thanks to a fundraising drive from the community.

A handful of local organisations and businesses have combined to fund the new service, which will run between Govan and the Riverside Museum.

The project has also been supported financially by the museum and Glasgow Life.

It will operate as an on-demand shuttle running from today to Sunday, September 21, from 8am to 6pm on weekdays and 9.45am to 5.30pm at weekends.

Chairman Councillor Archie Graham said: "The return of the Govan Ferry is great news, increasing and improving links between the north and south of the city, especially during this summer when the city is expecting a welcome influx of visitors as host of the 2014 Commonwealth Games."
