MORE than half of motorists driving on the A9 have admitted to speeding, according to a survey.
The poll by the A9 Safety Group found one in five said they had driven at 15mph over the speed limit, while more than a third had travelled 10mph more than the limit "occasionally" or "frequently".
It was carried out before work began on installing average speed cameras on part of the route between Perth and Inverness. Transport Minister Keith Brown said that work would encourage drivers to improve their behaviour on the roads and was an "effective" way to save lives. The Scottish Government has pledged to dual the 80 miles of the A9 between Perth and Inverness by 2025 in a project which is expected to cost around £3 billion.
