A FORMER clerk of the High Court and Court of Session has admitted downloading indecent images of young girls on a laptop at his home in Edinburgh.

Donald Bruton, 60, of Milton Road East, Edinburgh, appeared in front of Sheriff Alistair Noble and pled guilty to downloading the images between 2011 and last year. He resigned from his court position soon after his arrest.

Fiscal Depute Aidan Higgins told the court police had received intelligence about Bruton's actions and attended at his home on October 3 last year. They told him of the reason for their visit and he directed them to a laptop.

Sheriff Noble deferred sentence until August for the preparation of a social work report and placed Bruton on the sex offenders register. His bail was continued.
