FOURTEEN people have appeared in court in connection with a brawl which broke out following the funeral of a 16-year-old boy.

Police were called to a large-scale disturbance on Monday night after the wake for Dylan Paton.

Hundreds of people had gathered in the street in the Craigneuk area of Wishaw, Lanarkshire, where Dylan lived with his family.

Police Scotland said 20 people aged 12 to 45 were arrested. Of those, 14 appeared from custody at Hamilton Sheriff Court charged with mobbing and rioting. More arrests are expected to follow.
