A ROYAL Marine's daredevil plan to zip-slide from BBC Scotland's HQ to Glasgow Science Tower did not go to plan - when he was left dangling halfway.

To make matters worse a flag on the tower failed to open. However, a waterborne demonstration on the Clyde and a rousing Beat the Retreat, restored the Marines' reputation for spot-on precision as more than 100 commandos showed off their skills at Pacific Quay. A six-strong team is also ski-ing, sailing, cycling and running more than 1,000 miles, as part of the Royal Marines' 350th birthday celebrations.
