Safety recommendations have been made by investigators after a rail worker was badly hurt by a runaway maintenance vehicle.

The road rail vehicle was being placed on to the track when it ran away and struck scaffolding being used by workers at Glasgow Queen Street Station.

One of the men was thrown to the ground from the scaffolding and suffered shoulder injuries during the accident last year.

A report by the Rail Accident Investigation Branch said only the vehicle's rail wheel holding brakes, which were inadequate, were acting to prevent it moving.
