Want to check your connection to the Campsies?

Well there's been a new site which has been designed to do just that.

The Campsie Connections website and interactive map has been built to show the connections of the Campsie villages in Scotland to the rest of the world.

Built by Lennoxtown local Jeremy Jones, who also works for Herald sister company S1jobs, the campsie connections website allows users to enter their link to the Campsies and the places in the world in which they've lived.

The free site, which received funding from the lottery, launched today to mark the day the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Baton visits Lennoxtown.

The baton itself stops at Lennotown's town hall, called the Campsie Memorial Hall.

The hall was taken over by a village trust in 2010 after East Dunbartonshire Council decided to either close under-used halls or pass them over to community enterprises to run.

Since then, the hall has gone from strength to strength with the help of local volunteers, groups and residents and has also received lottery funding.
