THREE-YEAR-OLD Isla Todd, pictured with mother Heather, is believed to be the only child in Scotland born with a rare and incurable condition that means she cannot run around a swing park or paddle barefoot in the sea.

Isla, from Cambuslang, South Lanarkshire, has lymphoedema, which affects about one in 100,000 children. It causes her legs and feet to swell up. Any cuts, grazes or insect bites could be life-threatening because her lymphatic system, which helps the body fight infection, has not developed properly below the knees.
