Jimmy Savile's Highland hideaway is to be turned into a family home.

The shamed entertainer's cottage has been targeted in recent years as revelations about his abusive behaviour came to light.

Vandals spray-painted messages on the whitewashed walls and boarded up windows of the property in Glencoe.

Savile bought Allt na Reigh in 1998 and owned it until he died aged 84 in 2011.

Glasgow builder Michael Canny bought the Savile house at in auction in May last year for £212,000. He is hoping the two-bedroom bungalow can be turned into a comfortable family home.

The builder said he and his family would be moving into the property themselves, rather than renting it out or selling it on.

However, he refused to say whether he was concerned that the vandalism may continue.
