The death of a man found seriously injured in a common close is being treated as suspicious, police say.

Emergency services were called to Tobago Street in Greenock, Inverclyde, at about 3.20am this morning but the injured man died at the scene.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "A post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course to establish the exact cause of death, however the death is currently being treated as suspicious. Extensive inquiries are continuing."

Police have asked for anyone who was in the area at the time or has information about to the incident to contact them on 101.
