PERFORMERS from Nagaland, in India, brought a splash of colour to Edinburgh's Redford Barracks as they rehearsed for the opening of the Royal Military Tattoo.

The annual event at Edinburgh Castle begins tomorrow and runs until August 23, with performers from 46 countries due to perform.

Brigadier David Allfrey, Royal Edinburgh Tattoo Chief Executive and Producer, said: "We have perhaps the largest gathering of pipes and drums for many years, an unparalleled number of new contributors from across the Commonwealth, with over 100 Highland dancers and a wonderful score."
