COMMUTERS and Games spectators travelling to and from Glasgow faced major disruption after an incident on the line.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Lenzie rail station on Thursday shortly before 7.50am.

British Transport Police said a man had been struck and killed by a train.

Scotrail said there was disruption between Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh, Perth and Alloa.

Tickets were being accepted on local bus routes.

It came after a number of road closures across East Dunbartonshire and Glasgow were put in place for the Glasgow 2014 cycling time trials.

A spokesman from British Transport Police said: "A man has been struck and killed by a train at Lenzie.

"We received reports shortly before 7.50am.

"At this time it appears to be not suspicious."

Network Rail said they were working with ScotRail to reroute services where possible.
