The body of an overdue hillwalker has been found by search teams.

The alarm was raised at about 8pm on Saturday evening when the walker did not return from a walk on Ben Starav, Glen Etive, Highlands.

Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team began a search which was stood down at 4am on Sunday due to poor weather conditions.

It resumed at 8am yesterday and also involved Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team, Oban Mountain Rescue Team and the Search and Rescue Dogs Association (SARDA).

Rescue helicopter 137 from RAF Lossiemouth joined the search until about 9.45am when Royal Navy rescue helicopter 177 from HMS Gannet in Ayrshire took over.

The Royal Navy helicopter found the man's body near Coire Lotha in Glen Etive at about 1.17pm yesterday.

He has not yet been named by police.
