A MAN has appeared in court accused of a mortgage and loan fraud totalling more than £1.5 million.

Raymond Lee Moore, 51, is alleged to have lied about his employment and produced bogus wage slips in order to defraud high street lenders including the Royal Bank of Scotland and the Bank of Scotland.

Appearing at Dumbarton Sheriff Court, Mr Moore, who denies all charges, is accused of using the mortgages to purchase 27 residential properties in the Dumbarton, Helensburgh, and Alexandria areas between August 2004 and August 2008.

He is also alleged to have committed fraud to obtain a mortgage of £220,000 to buy the Dumbarton house given on court papers as his home address.

Sheriff John Herald granted a request from Mr Moore's lawyer for more time to compile his case and a trial was set for October.
