A man accused of attacking a woman and pinning her to the ground has had his bail removed - so he can marry her next weekend.
Mark Fergusson was placed on bail with a condition not to approach Nicola Park after being accused of attacking her at a house in Killiecrankie, in Perth and Kinross.
But Fergusson returned to Perth Sheriff Court yesterday to ask for the special condition to be removed so he can get married to the alleged victim next Saturday.
Fiscal depute Stuart Richardson told the court: "Before this incident the couple had set plans to get married in the next few weeks and the marriage is still going ahead, so the Crown has no objection to the condition being removed."
Sheriff Eric Brown said he no longer saw any point in having a bail condition in place and he removed the bail order in time for the wedding on August 16.
Fergusson, of Druid Cottage, Killiecrankie, denies assaulting Miss Park at their home on July 25 this year by grabbing her arm, pushing her towards the door, grabbing her hair, pulling her to the ground and holding her on the ground.
The 26-year-old initially appeared from custody at the court on July 28 and the bail order was imposed with the special condition not to approach or contact Miss Park.
He continues to deny the charge and will face trial on November 20.
Editor’s note: Nicola Park contacted us after publication to say that the accusation was wrongly made under stress at the time and Mr Fergusson was acquitted and fully exonerated.
