A WOMAN has been banned from owning dogs for three years after her pets were found in an emaciated state.

Shona McBain, 39, admitted failing to provide adequate nutrition and veterinary treatment for two Staffordshire bull terriers and a lurcher. One of the dogs had to be put down. Scottish SPCA Inspector Fiona McKenzie said it was one of the most shocking neglect cases she had seen.

McBain, of Aberdeen, was also ordered to carry out 135 hours of community work when she was sentenced at Aberdeen Sheriff Court.
