AN art student has come up with an ingenious design to help people suffering from the early stages of dementia.

Product design student Rujun Wang, of the Edinburgh College Of Art, made the simple wooden chair, which has a clothes hanger users can easily reach in the bedroom, as part of her Masters degree court. It is being exhibited at the Masters Festival from tomorrow until August 24 at the college.

Meanwhile, jewellery graduate Ya Wen displays some of her unusual jewellery designs, which will be appearing at the event. Ms Wen's work is inspired light, shadow and optical illusion.

The degree show is part of the Edinburgh Art Festival and includes work from 50 other Masters students, together with a full programme of associated events, including a designers' talk on problem solving, story telling and innovating on August 18 and 21.
