A PIPE band from Northern Ireland has taken the honours for the fourth year running at the World Pipe Band Championships.

There were jubilant jigs on Glasgow Green last night as the Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band took first place in the elite Grade 1 competition.

The runners-up were Inveraray and District, with the St Laurence O'Toole band from Dublin in third.

Ian Embelton of The Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association said: "The bar has been set very high by this year's event."
