CALVIN Harris has been named as the world's top-earning DJ for the second year running.

The Dumfries-born 30-year-old, known for his work with huge names such as Rihanna and Rita Ora as well as his own hits, made almost £40 million in the 12 months to June, according to American business magazine Forbes.

It was an increase of more than £12 million on the previous year, meaning he comfortably beat the second highest earning DJ, Frenchman David Guetta, who had estimated earnings of £18 million. Avicii and veteran Tiësto shared the number three slot.

Harris, real name Adam Wiles, has had a string of major hits with nine top singles from his latest album 18 Months. However, his life was not always so glamorous, having worked as a shelf stacker in Marks & Spencer in Dumfries.
