THE late Scottish author Iain Banks's novel Stonemouth is to be transformed in to a new BBC Scotland TV drama to be screened next year.
The two-part drama is the first adaptation of Banks's work since his death in 2013.
The novel was published in April 2012 and follows a man returning to Stonemouth, a fictional seaport town north of Aberdeen, for a funeral, five years after leaving for London due to a sexual scandal.
The BBC Scotland and Slate North co-production for both BBC One Scotland and BBC Two, will film in locations around Scotland from October, this year.
Castings will be announced in due course, with the two, hour long episodes to screen next year.
Christopher Aird, BBC Scotland's head of drama and executive producer on Stonemouth, said: "I am thrilled BBC Scotland Drama and Slate North are bringing Stonemouth to the screen."
