A plane bound for London has been forced to make an emergency landing at Edinburgh.

The Airbus A320 operated by Virgin Atlantic's Little Red airline came down safely at the Scottish airport due to a sudden loss of cabin pressure.

The potentially serious incident happened shortly after take-off with the airport alerted to the problem just after 6pm.

The plane had been bound for Heathrow Airport at the time and was forced to turn roound.

The plane was then checked by engineers on the stand. A spokesman for the airport said passenger services were not affected by the drama
