WORK by students of the Glasgow School of Art is pictured amid the fire-damaged west wing of the Mackintosh building as Masters students prepare to hold their annual degree show.

This design by Ting Chen, worn by Claire Thompson, is among a number of pieces to be showcased as part of the Graduate Degree show, which begins tomorrow and runs until September 12.

It will culminate in a fashion promenade at the Reid Building next Friday, which will focus on the work of 12 students from the Masters in Fashion and Textiles programme.

Ms Chen's womenswear has a strong Japanese influence while another student, Irina Gusakova, has taken inspiration from by optical art.

Other students whose work will be displayed include Pei Shan Wu, Kelly Mcgrath and Jade Starmore,

Jimmy Stephen-Cran, head of department, said: "Over one concentrated Masters year of study, our designers are encouraged to hone their professional skills, take considered creative risks and ultimately strengthen their individual creative voice."
