SCOTS pop singer Amy Macdonald has seen her fortune soar to £6 million after another successful year.

The singer songwriter has just posted an impressive set of results for the two companies which handle her income.

They reveal she has amassed a multi-million pound fortune just a few years after she was playing gigs in Glasgow coffee shops.

Latest accounts show Amy's main company, Amy Macdonald Ltd, has £2.7 million in the bank.

Her second company, Amy Macdonald Touring Ltd, has £3.04 million in another account.

The combined funds of the firms for the period up to April 2014 are almost £1 million up on the previous year's figures.

The accounts, filed at Companies House, show that Amy has an investment portfolio worth £1.9 million.

She is the sole director of the firms and her mum Josephine, an accountant, acts as the company secretary.

The 27-year-old, from Bishopbriggs near Glasgow, has released three albums since bursting on to the music scene in 2007.

Her records have sold millions of copies and she has become a massive star in European countries like Germany and Denmark as well as the UK.

In the last 12 months she performed at the opening ceremony at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games and completed a sell-out tour.

A financial source said: "These figures show that Amy has had yet another successful year and increased the value of her companies by almost £1 million.

"She will also have personal earnings which are not channeled through the companies making her even wealthier.

"She writes all of her own songs which entitles her to a large slice of the royalties from her records.

"Investing her money for the future is also a shrewd and canny move so she is obviously getting good advice."
