The Cumberland and Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart sold 65 store heifers in Dumfries on Monday to a top of 285.4p per kg and an average of 219.6p, while 50 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 260.4p and levelled at 227.5p.

Fifteen store, B&W bullocks sold to 175p and averaged 158.2p, while 10 store bulls peaked at 239.5p and levelled at 209.1p.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 5 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of £1344 per head and 233p per kg to average £1256.01 and 209.3p, while 2 prime bullocks levelled at £1151.30 and 193.5p. Six prime bulls sold to £1367.40 and 181p to average £1004.06 and 175.1p.

In the rough ring 105 beef cows averaged 126.7p and 118 dairy cows levelled at 90.9p. Nine bulls averaged 116p and 14 clean OTM cattle levelled at 148.6p.

A larger show of 18 dairy cattle sold to £1400 for a freshly-calved heifer and averaged £1056 (-£100 on the week).

Wallets Marts sold 1477 prime lambs in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £72 per head and 158p per kg to average 136.3p (-14.6p on the week).

The 270 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £94 for Texels and £48 for Blackfaces.
