Judy Murray has thrown herself into her new role as chieftain of the Bridge of Allan Highland Games.

The tennis coach tried lifting the hammer before she was hoisted in the air by a group of heavyweights taking part in the event near Stirling today.

The Games, which includes pipe bands, Highland dancers and caber tossing, attracts crowds of around 8,000, organisers said.

The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant kept her Twitter followers updated by posting photos from the event, including one of her posing with a group of Highland dancers.

Each year a celebrity is invited to be chieftain for the day and acts as figurehead for the Games, receiving the salute of the pipe bands in the march past as well as presenting prizes to the winning bands.
