TWO fishermen have been rescued after becoming stranded off rocks at the foot of cliffs.

The men called the emergency services after their boat engine broke down, forcing them to clamber on to the rocks at the foot of cliffs near Slains Castle in Aberdeenshire as their boat sank.

The RNLI's lifeboat 'The Misses Robertson of Kintail' was launched from Peterhead after the alarm was raised at around 9.30am and a rescue craft was used to lift the two men onto the lifeboat.

The fishermen, who suffered from mild hypothermia and some scratches, were taken to Cruden Bay harbour.
