A PEDESTRIAN struck by a bus in Edinburgh more than a week ago has died in hospital from his injuries.

The 65-year-old man was hit on Wednesday August 19 in the city's Frederick Street.

He was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and then transferred to the Western General Hospital, but died on Friday evening.

Police have issued a fresh appeal for witnesses to come forward.

Sergeant Ross Drummond said: "Our sincere condolences go to the family and friends of the 65-year-old, who have requested that their privacy be respected at this very difficult time.

"Our investigation continues into the full circumstances surrounding the collision and I'd like to thank the witnesses who have so far come forward and assisted with our enquiries.

"Anyone with further information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101."
