Jack Vettriano is in talks with an Edinburgh businesswoman to sit for his first painting since he dislocated his shoulder earlier this year.

Tara Inchbald, a nutritionist and beautician, first met the Fife artist last year when they agreed a sitting.

They were reunited at the same charity event - Lunch With An Old Bag at Prestonfield House outside Edinburgh - yesterday and made new plans for when the artist has recovered.

Ms Inchbald said: "We talked about it last year and then of course he did his arm.

"But we are currently discussing it again."

In May Vettriano announced he was giving up painting for the foreseeable future after the injury.

He said then he was facing a long recovery period.

At the time he said he was undertaking a course of physiotherapy and added "in the meantime I would like to thank the public for their continued support and interest".

Vettriano famously left school at 16 to become a miner and only turned to art after a girlfriend bought him a set of watercolour paints for his 21st birthday and he taught himself.

Now actor Jack Nicholson and Sir Alex Ferguson are among the collectors of his work.

One of Vettriano's most famous paintings, The Singing Butler, sold for £744,000 in 2004 and is one of the best-selling posters in Britain.

In 2013 and 2014 a retrospective of his paintings became the most successful art exhibition held at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow.

The Vettriano exhibition included more than 100 of his works and was seen by a record 123,300 people.

His work has also featured in exhibitions in Edinburgh, London and New York.

Vettriano and Ms Inchbald were joined by over 400 of the country’s leading businesswomen at the event which has been held for seven years and has raised more than £1.6 million for the Prince’s Trust Scotland and helped 1,600 vulnerable young people.

Made in Chelsea’s Spencer Mathews, Miss Scotland 2015 winner Mhairi Fergusson and singer Darius Campbell were also supporting the event.

Guests helped raise funds by bidding on a range of designer bags, from Chanel, Mulberry to Fendi.
