PASSENGERS at Aberdeen Airport are going through security screening for a second time after a security alert.

The terminal was evacuated as a precaution around 10am, but the airport tweeted that it was "business as usual" again by 11.22am.

A spokesman for the airport said police had been called as the result of an "operational incident of a security nature".

It is unclear what the security threat was.

Around 400 passengers who had already passed through security ready for departure are being "re-processed" and baggage re-screened, he added.

There were knock-on delays for flights due to take off from the airport, which is also the major base for helicopters which transport oil workers out to North Sea rigs.
