A woman and her child were saved from a crash inferno by passers-by in Perthshire.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service praised three rescuers who dragged the pair from the wreckage as it burst into flames following the collision between the car and pick-up truck on the A93 just north of Guildtown.

One of the rescuers, Perth builder Sam Fuller, told Tay FM: "I'm no hero, I was just simply there at the right time and the right place.

"The flames did engulf the whole car and we were actually standing in the flames getting this woman out and I thought to myself that I'm putting my life in danger here."

Firefighters found the blaze well under way.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, praised the men.

Bob Rearie, SFRS station commander at Perth said: "They managed to get inside the car and rescue the female driver.

"The young child, who was in the back seat, was rescued by another passer-by who accessed the vehicle the same way, from the passenger side in the ditch, and climbed inside the back of the car to release the child.

"The car was on fire at the time."

The mother suffered serious injuries to her leg and head, and the pick-up truck driver suffered non life-threatening injuries.

Both were taken to Nuinewells Hospital in Dundee.

The child was uninjured in the accident on Monday at 5.30pm.
