Pensioner dies after being hit by a car in Troon
An elderly pedestrian has died after being hit by a car while crossing a road.
The 71-year-old man was struck by a silver Land Rover Freelander on Bentinck Drive in Troon, South Ayrshire, at about 8.10pm on Sunday.
Emergency services attended the accident and the man was rushed to Ayr Hospital by ambulance, but he died a short time after arrival.
The 67-year-old woman who was driving the Land Rover was not injured, according to Police Scotland.
Officers are urging any witnesses to the accident, or anyone who saw the man prior to that, to contact them on 101.
