A FATHER wanted to end his mentally ill son's life after telling him "it's time for you to die".
William McLaughlin choked 35 year-old Mark, who had been diagnosed with schizophrenia, and later claimed his son was "just existing".
A judge at the High Court in Glasgow heard Mark feared his dad was going to "crush his windpipe" during the incident at their flat in Paisley, Renfrewshire.
The 59 year-old said he had been at a "low ebb" at the time.
McLaughlin pled guilty to assaulting his son to the danger of his life and will be sentenced next month.
