AN artist is donating a portion of the proceeds from her art prints to conservation trusts that support the landscapes which inspired her.
Rose Strang's works include the Isle of Eigg in the Hebrides, the Bass Rock in East Lothian and Lindisfarne in Northumberland.
Ms Strang coined the idea during an arts residency on Eigg last year. Having researched the ways the islanders conserve and protect the environment around them, she felt moved to contribute to the Eigg Heritage Trust.
The trust's conservation projects includes a sustainable energy system from hydro, solar and wind power that provides almost 100 per cent of the island's electricity.
Ms Strang has since expanded the project to include her art prints of the Bass Rock and Lindisfarne in a bid to raise funds for the Scottish Seabird Centre in North Berwick and Northumberland Marine Site.
"I always find the landscapes I visit and paint uplifting and inspiring, so it makes sense to think of ways I can support landscape conservation, otherwise it feels that I'm benefitting from the experience but giving nothing back," she said.
"I think this project will grow as more people hear about it and I add new print series. I really hope so, because that means fairly significant amounts will be raised for these charities or trusts over time."
The prints are currently available to buy from Ms Strang's website and from early next year can be purchased from the Scottish Seabird Centre in North Berwick and at the Pier Gallery in Eigg.
