Elton John has announced his first show in Edinburgh for over ten years.

The Rocketman singer will perform at the capital's Meadowbank stadium on Saturday, June 25 2016.

The show is part of his Wonderful Crazy Night tour.

The singer last played Edinburgh in 2005 when he performed at Easter Road.

He said: "These concerts will give me the chance to thank the Scottish audiences who have been so faithful to me over these many decades.

"We cannot get to everyone, but I am going to try. Edinburgh has always been a very special place for me to play.

"I did my first ever truly solo show at the Playhouse back in 1976, and it also just happens to be where my guitarist and Music Director Davey Johnstone is from, so it’s a very special city for me and the band.”

John will release his 33rd studio album, 'Wonderful Crazy Night', on February 5, 2016.
