Drake Music Scotland will include a tribute to the organisation’s associate musician David McNiven, who died last month, in its Celtic Connections concert at Glasgow City Halls this Saturday afternoon. A composer for theatre and television, including Rab C Nesbitt and the 7:84 Company offshoot Wildcat, McNiven worked latterly with children with special needs for Drake and successfully campaigned for the Scottish Qualifications Authority to recognise the Brainfingers system, which allows pupils with cerebral palsy to create music with a laptop and to interact with other musicians. Harpoi, a piece he composed with laptop musician-composer Rhona Smith, will feature in Saturday’s concert, which begins at 2:30pm.
