The SNP is to update its Glasgow website after accidentally listing suspended MP Natalie McGarry as convenor.

The Glasgow East MP resigned the SNP whip last year following allegations of missing cash from the accounts of the organisation Women For Independence.

Ms McGarry has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.

Last week she was at the centre of a row with JK Rowling, after she accused the Harry Potter author of supporting a "misogynist Twitter troll".

The SNP said that the details listed on the Glasgow website were wrong.

The party said that an interim convenor had already been appointed to replace Ms McGarry and that a meeting would be held within weeks to choose a permanent convener..

Over the weekend it emerged that Ms Rowling has written to Ms McGarry seeking an apology and a charitable donation.

Last week the writer challenged the MP to back up the accusation that she had defended "abusive misogynist trolls" on social media.

The ensuring media row last six hours.

Ms McGarry later apologised for "any misguided inference" that the author supported misogyny or abuse.

A spokesman for the SNP last night said that the Glasgow SNP website would be changed.

A Labour spokesman said: "SNP members can only take heart that the party did not accidentally list Natalie McGarry as national treasurer."
