A rumour Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs was taking over from Celtic's FC Ronny Deila circulated social media last night - and people just didn't take it seriously.

United's assistant manager Giggs did not take his usual seat in the dugout alongside Louis van Gaal when the Premiership side took on Stoke.

They won 3-0 but shortly afterwards a rumour circulated that he would be taking Ronny Deila place at Parkhead.

The official line was Giggs had been granted compassionate leave due to a family illness.

Football fans, however, choose to believe the official line and the banter got flowing on Twitter as they joked over how ridiculous the speculation of a Parkhead move for Giggs was.

Some Twitter users claim to have spotted him in and around Glasgow:

Even the special one Jose Mourinho was brought into it:

We salute you Scottish Twitter for making us laugh...again.
