A woman was taken to hospital with neck injuries after her car collided with another vehicle.

The collision happened in St Leonard’s Road in Ayr at 5pm on Saturday but details of the incident have just emerged.

Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the side of the woman’s car.

She was then taken by ambulance to Ayr Hospital after suffering neck injuries, according to a spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

A man who was in the other vehicle had managed to get himself out before firefighters arrived.

The crew left the scene 37 minutes later.
