Police are attempting to trace a missing man from the Jedburgh area.

58-year-old William Notley was last seen at around 10am on Monday, February 8, leaving an address in Bongate Gardens.

Described as around 5ft 6ins, he has a slim build, and is dark skinned with receding short brown hair and an English accent.

At the time of going missing, it is thought William was wearing heavy black trainers, olive green trousers, an olive green polo shirt, a grey and black zip up cardigan, a navy blue padded waistcoat and a navy blue hat.

As he sometimes sleeps outdoors or in remote farm buildings and barns, police are growing particularly concerned for his welfare, particularly due to the recent low temperatures.

Inspector Mike Bennett, who is based in Galashiels police station, urged anyone who may have any information about William's whereabouts to come forward.

He added: “We are carrying out various inquiries in the area in an effort to trace William as quickly as possible.

“I urge anyone who has seen him or has information on his possible whereabouts to contact police immediately on 101 or speak to any officer.”
