A man killed during a violent street brawl in Glasgow’s East End has been named.
Dad Paul McCarroll, 49, was attacked when a row broke out in Westmuir Street, Parkhead, in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Glasgow Times:
The Celtic fan, pictured, who is believed to have worked as a bus driver, was found seriously injured in the street where he lives.
He was rushed to Glasgow Royal Infirmary but later died.

Glasgow Times:

Witnesses described hearing shouting in the street before he was injured.
As reported in later editions of yesterday’s Evening Times, locals said the area was in “lock down” as cops combed the street for clues.
One resident said: “It’s not the nicest area to live in, but you still don’t expect to wake up in the morning to find a man has died in your street.
“It’s very sad, no matter what happened, nobody deserves for this to happen to them.”
Officers raced to Westmuir Street at around 12.40am yesterday to discover the injured man. Police said a major investigation has been launched and the death is being treated as “suspicious”.
Detectives would not reveal the exact cause of death, but said they were following a “definite line of inquiry”.

Glasgow Times:

Another neighbour said: “I was woken up by the flashing blue lights and sounds of police sirens.
“I couldn’t see what was happening but the police were shouting at someone to show their hands. That’s all I heard: “Show us your hands”.
“It was very frightening.”
Moments later, officers descended on Burgher Street and officers were seen “looking for something or someone”.
The Evening Times understands police believe the killer may have run along Burgher Street as he tried to flee.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman confirmed that a post-mortem examination was taking place to establish the exact cause of Mr McCarroll’s death and a report was due to be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
The spokeswoman added:”With reference to the suspicious death of a 49-year-old man following a disturbance in Westmuir St, Parkhead, Glasgow, the deceased can now be named as Paul McCarroll, Westmuir St, Parkhead, Glasgow.
“Relatives are aware.”
