A tiny fox cub is being cared for by the Scottish SPCA after becoming separated from her mother in Lanarkshire.
The three-week-old fox called Utah was discovered on a road in Bellshill and is now being looked after by the charity's National Wildlife Rescue Centre in Fishcross.
Centre manager Colin Seddon said: "Utah is our first fox cub of the season and was probably in the process of being moved by her mother but somehow got dropped along the way.
"She will do much better once she has been introduced to another fox cub of a similar age as this will help her develop the type of behaviour needed to fend for herself in her natural habitat.
"From April to May it will be common to see month-old fox cubs developing survival skills above ground during the day and they are often left alone while their mother forages for food or moves them between dens.
"However, if anyone believes a fox cub is injured, ill or has been orphaned and needs our help they should call our animal helpline on 03000 999 999 for advice."
Once Utah is at the right age and able to survive on her own she will be released back into the wild at a carefully selected site.
